Weekly Market Overview 24-28/05/2021
In our last weekly report of the season you can read about how Greek, European, US and APAC markets fluctuated during the past week. In Greece, the General Index ended the week with gains, regaining part of its losses, influenced by significant developments of both blue chips and banks stocks. European markets recovered mainly due to ECB’s loose monetary policy affirmations. In the US, markets secured steady gains for the week, focusing more on good macroeconomic data than on rising inflation – although the Fed warns that inflation pressures are expected to be temporary. In our stocks section, you will find analyses for AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. Holdings and ViacomCBS Inc. In APAC, Chinese markets also saw strong gains amid a week of intense regulatory reforms. Markets in Japan moved in a similar direction, with the acceleration of vaccines supporting the upward trend of the week. In commodities, oil prices hit new 2-month highs, while gold’s upward trend also remained uninterrupted underpinned by inflation fears.
