Weekly Market Overview 19-23/04/2021

This week we read about market movements in Greece, Europe, America and Asia. In Greece, the General Index, after an alarming dip in the middle of last week, ended right before 900 points. In the meantime, in European markets distress prevailed due to the excessive increase in COVID-19 cases, which is slowing down the pace of the expected recovery. In the US, markets fell at the steepest rate in 5 weeks due to President Biden’s new tax regime proposal, which projects doubling taxes on annual incomes exceeding $1mn. In our stock section you will find analyses on Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. and Intel Corporation, both announcing first-quarter results albeit investors priced each one differently, which of course was reflected in the dashboards. In APAC, Chinese markets rose slightly amid PBOC’s announcement of unchanged interest rates, while in Japan concerns about rising COVID-19 cases intensified with a significant impact on markets. In commodities, oil prices fell for the week due to reduced demand.

We wish you happy and safe Easter Holidays!
