Weekly Market Overview 11-15/01/2021

In our first weekly report for 2021, you can read about the fluctuations in the Greek, European, US and APAC markets. In Greece, the General Index was not off to a hopeful new year start, despite the measures against the pandemic beginning to recede in order to provide a boost for the economy. European markets showed a similar course, albeit the restrictive measures are not being relaxed as no significant epidemiological improvement has been recorded. In Italy and The Netherlands, in particular, significant political developments have taken place, with government formations in these countries experiencing “losses”. In the US, President elect Biden has proposed a new $ 1.9 trillion stimulus package, whilst the Fed announced that there will be no interest rate raise unless inflation exceeds 2%. In the APAC markets, US and China tensions are rekindling with US sanctions on Chinese companies once again. Lastly, as per usual, you will find our stocks analysis, this time of General Motors Co. and NIO Inc., along with our new subsection, the Weekly Stock Talk with various facts and paradoxes regarding stocks that caught our attention during the week.

The Financial Markets Team wishes you a healthy and creative new year!
